All cells contain spatially distinct niches (e.g. organelles, condensates) that house the different proteins driving metabolism. Our lab develops and applies subcellular omics methods in marine microorganisms to map the subcellular distributions of proteins, elements, and other macromolecules. We use these methods to create subcellular atlases that uncover how metabolism is organized within microbial cells.
We are grateful to the Waller Lab and Kathryn Lilley's group at the University of Cambridge (UK) for sharing their subcellular proteomics knowledge.
